Frequently asked questions:

Question: What do you do?
Answer: HealthYes! provides preventive health screenings that are fast, accurate, and non-invasive. Our screenings help you detect your risk for stroke, heart disease, osteoporosis and other life-threatening conditions. HealthYes! mobile medical teams utilize FDA approved, advanced ultrasound imaging technology that has been proven to help identify underlying disease in seemingly healthy people. Early identification of disease allows your physician time to administer treatment prior to you experiencing a medical emergency.

Question: I feel fine, why would I attend one of these screenings?
Answer: Millions of Americans are unaware they are at risk for a medical emergency or even death from vascular disorders because these diseases are generally symptomless until a catastrophic event occurs, such as stroke or aneurysm rupture. Case-in-point: Half of all stroke victims had no prior symptoms. We routinely identify individuals with moderate to severe risk who are experiencing no outward symptoms. Early identification of underlying disease allows for numerous treatment options.

Question: What is the difference between a preventive health screening and a diagnostic study?
Answer: The purpose of preventive health screenings is to identify abnormal conditions so that the client is aware of their condition and can take the appropriate steps to correct it. Preventive health screenings should be accurate, affordable, and accessible. Although no screening is 100% accurate, preventive screenings should have very few false negatives. A small percentage of false positives are acceptable as preventive screenings should always error on the side of caution. A diagnostic study is an in-depth examination of the disease to find specifics, once it has been identified. Diagnostic studies are typically much more expensive than HealthYes! preventive screenings.

Question: Are these tests painful?
Answer: Not at all. These tests are topical evaluations. They are painless, non-invasive (no needles, no pricking), and non-radioactive.

Question:Who performs these tests? And, what type of physician reviews the results?
Answer: HealthYes! employs skilled technicians who have completed the formal training necessary to perform ultrasound studies in a clinical environment and have completed rotations in hospitals or other clinical practices. Many of our technicians have decades of experience. Results are reviewed by local, board-certified radiologists, cardiologists, or vascular specialists prior to being made available to the client.

Question: When will I receive my results?
Answer: HealthYes! has set the gold-standard in the industry for timely results. While most screening companies take 21 days, your HealthYes! screening results will be reviewed by a board-certified physician and available to you within 4 business days. If we find a condition that is potentially life threatening, our technicians will notify you at the screening event. Fast result turnaround ensures timely notification in the case of serious health issues.

Question: What is included in my results packet?
Answer: Most screening companies provide simplistic results that inform clients if they are "Normal" or "Abnormal" only. HealthYes! provides the valuable numerical data and images necessary for physician monitoring and the establishment of health benchmarks. This "real" information provides you and your doctor with measurable insight into the state of your health, provides a baseline that you and your doctor can refer back to in the future, and provides you the opportunity to seek proactive treatment if you are hovering dangerously close to abnormal levels. We have had numerous clients whose physicians have chosen to monitor them closely or begin treatment for conditions that were technically "Normal".

Question: What do I do if my results show abnormality?
Answer: You should share your results with your doctor or local hospital as soon as possible. Your health care provider will use your results, in conjunction with your health history, to determine the best course of action. This may include monitoring, medicinal treatment, further testing, and/or corrective surgery. Fortunately, thanks to the advancements in modern medicine, your doctor will probably have numerous options for treatment, based on the severity and progression of any disease. Obviously, earlier identification allows for a greater variety of treatment options.

Question: If I need these tests why wouldn’t my doctor perform them as part of my routine or annual exam?
Answer: Most insurance companies do not allow doctors to order screenings as a preventive measure, therefore your doctor will only order them if you are displaying outward symptoms. However, these diseases are often symptomless until a medical emergency occurs. As our population ages, raising awareness about, and screening for, vascular disease becomes critical. The Society for Vascular Surgery, a non-profit group of vascular specialists, has recommended ultrasound screenings for those over 55 with risk factors such as: family history, high-blood pressure, high-cholesterol, diabetes, known cardiovascular disease, and smoking.

Question: I am under 50 and in good health why would I want these tests?
Answer: Cardiovascular disease does not discriminate based on age. Genetics and life-style choices affect individuals differently. HealthYes! screenings can establish a baseline for your cardiovascular health. You and your doctor can monitor the progression of disease in the future.

Question: Where does HealthYes! hold screening events?
Answer: HealthYes! screenings are convenient. They are held in local communities at various organizations such as: faith-based organizations, community centers, businesses, fitness centers, and schools to name a few. It is important to HealthYes! that screenings are easily accessible, unintimidating, and comfortable. Familiar locations in your community help to maximize participation.

Question: How long do these tests take?
Answer: We recommend that you allow an hour to complete the screening process. Individually, these tests take approximately 5-10 minutes.

Question: Do I need to do anything special to prepare for these tests?
Answer: Yes, we ask that you wear loose fitting, two-piece clothing and do not wear pantyhose. In preparation for your abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) screening, we ask that you do not eat four hours prior to your test. Coffee, tea, and water in moderation is acceptable. Please continue to take all medications as prescribed by your doctor. For diabetics, a light meal consisting of dry toast and juice is also acceptable.

Question: Will I have to disrobe for any of the screenings?
Answer: No. Screening for an abdominal aortic aneurysm will require that you lift your shirt to allow the technician access to your abdomen, but that is all. Please know that your privacy is very important to us, therefore we perform these tests in a private area.

Question: Does insurance cover the cost?
Answer: At this time, most insurance providers do not cover the costs of preventive screenings. We suggest you contact your insurance provider directly with this question. HealthYes! will issue a receipt that you may submit for reimbursement at your discretion. However, we will not attempt to bill your insurance company. If you are found to have abnormal results, insurance will typically cover any further diagnostic testing and procedures necessary.

Question: How can HealthYes! offer hospital-quality screenings at this price?
Answer: HealthYes! tests many more clients than would be possible in a doctor’s office or hospital. This volume allows us to fully utilize our equipment and team, and subsequently decrease the price of screenings.

Question: Do I need an appointment to get screened?
Answer: Yes. Our screening events often fill up quickly. You may schedule an appointment online or by calling us at 1-800-555-9190. We accept payment by credit card, check, or cash.

Question: What if I can’t make my appointment?
Answer: Please notify us as early as possible, and we will reschedule you for a future screening event.

Question: What if I am late to my appointment?
Answer: Our technicians will do their best to work you back into the schedule; however our events are often very full. Please do your best to be on time and we will do our best to be on time as well. In the event we are unable to fit you back into the schedule, we will reschedule you for a future screening event.

Question: How often should I be screened?
Answer: This is a personal decision that is often influenced by family history, age, the results of your initial screening, and other risk factors. Cardiovascular diseases and osteoporosis are progressive diseases, so many of our customers choose to return annually as part of a preventive health management program.

Question: Since you are mobile, how do I know your equipment is up to standards?
Answer: As part of our continuing commitment to quality, HealthYes! has invested in state-of-the-art Color Doppler ultrasound. Unlike the fragile cart-based systems used by other screening companies, our ultrasound equipment is designed for the demanding nature of a mobile environment. Originally designed for use by medics in the U.S. military, our ultrasound device is the size of a laptop computer but more effective than much bulkier systems. This multifunctional system’s durability and high quality images have led to its adoption by hospitals and emergency response personnel. The ultrasound device recalibrates throughout the day, and is tough enough to be dropped from 5 feet and continue to operate smoothly. Still, just to be safe, we transport it in a heavily padded, hard-plastic case. Currently, there is not a better ultrasound system available for what we do.

Question: What type of technology do you use to perform your screenings?
Answer: HealthYes! utilizes advanced Color Doppler Ultrasound and advanced computer oscillometry. Ultrasound is currently the best non-invasive, non-radioactive imaging technology available to screen for cardiovascular diseases and osteoporosis. It allows us to visualize inside your arteries for dangerous plaque build-up and ballooning of the aorta. This is the same technology found in most hospitals.

In addition, we have invested in advanced computer oscillometry. This technology allows us to automate the screenings for peripheral artery disease and arterial stiffness. Automation helps to ensure we get the highest quality results possible by eliminating human error. Errors in the manual process can easily occur due to technicians not performing the full test (a 60 second pressure count), fatigue, and daily data entry errors.

Question: I have a pacemaker. Can I still participate in your screenings?
Answer: Yes, a pacemaker will not interfere with the technology we are using.

Question: Are you insured?
Answer: Yes. We are also members of the Better Business Bureau and multiple Chambers of Commerce throughout Texas.

Question: Are you affiliated with any hospital or clinical practice?
Answer: HealthYes! often partners with hospitals and other clinical practices, to provide high-quality screening services to various communities. We are an independent screening company and your results are available online within 4 business days. We are a non-referring entity and encourage you to share your results with your personal physician.

Question: If I’ve had a heart attack or stroke, should I get screened?
Answer: We absolutely recommend screening to track the progression or regression of disease. However, if you have a history of heart disease or stroke, you should check with your physician first. Screening may be covered by insurance under those circumstances.
